Ata Airlines started working as the 16th airline company of Iran on December 27, 2008, and made its first flight on January 10, 2008, simultaneously with the opening of this company, from Tabriz International Airport to Mashhad, and the main office and Its center is located in Tabriz and its main hubs are Tabriz and Mehrabad airports in Tehran.
According to Ata Airlines’ policy of using local manpower as well as localization in the field of fleet maintenance and repair, a number of Iranian pilots and co-pilots were sent to Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine to undergo advanced training courses. During the relevant periods, they joined the crew of Ata Airlines as flight attendants, and more than one hundred local human resources were also recruited by Ata Airlines as flight attendants and chief hostesses, and the steering of the technical department (repair and maintenance of the air fleet) of Ata Company was also given to capable specialists. The interior was handed over to use as little external force as possible.
Ata Airlines fleet includes different aircraft for different purposes. Ata Airlines has several types of aircraft, each of which has its own characteristics.
1. Airbus A320 of Ata Airlines
It is a family of thin-body passenger aircraft manufactured by Airbus. The production of Airbus A320 began in 1984 and it first flew on February 22, 1987 in Toulouse, France, and was handed over to Air France in July of the following year. In 2010, Airbus introduced a new series of A320 airplanes called the Airbus A320 Neo family, which has advantages such as reduced fuel consumption compared to the current model. The production of new planes has started since 2014. Airbus A320 of Ata Airlines has two turbofan engines under its two wings, and the maximum speed of this aircraft is Mach 0.82 (870 km/h) and it moves within the flight range of 5185.The main structure of this aircraft is made of composite materials such as aramid fibers, glass and carbon, as well as reinforced plastic, which is the first subsonic aircraft with a composite structure. Airbus A-320 was the best-selling Airbus single-aisle airplane and the newest airplane of its class, which has high performance and reliability, easy maintenance and low fuel consumption at the same time. This plane can carry 150 passengers in two business classes for 12 people and economy class for 138 people.
2. Boeing 737 of Ata Airlines
Boeing 737, known as “Boeing Baby”, is a single-aisle narrow-body passenger plane manufactured by the Boeing Company in the United States. The design of this plane started in the 70s and started flying. A year later, its commercial use began by being used in the Lufthansa fleet. The initial model was soon replaced by a longer model. Boeing 737 is an efficient and popular airliner and so far more than seven thousand orders have been given to Boeing and more than five thousand planes have been built. Boeing 737 has two turbofan engines under its wings.
The length and height of this Ata Airlines plane are 30.5 and 11.3 meters, respectively. Its capacity is about 130 passengers. It can fly at a maximum speed of 890 kilometers per hour and its flight range is 4700 meters from the ground.
Currently, Boeing 737 is present in more than 500 airlines. By the end of 2017, more than 14,200 firm orders have been registered for Boeing 737 (all models), of which 9,802 have been received by 285 airlines.
At any given time, an average of 1,250 of them are flying in the sky. In 2006, on average, a 737 landed somewhere every 5 seconds. Since its inception in 1968, the 737 has carried more than 12 billion passengers, flown more than 74 billion miles (120 billion km), and logged more than 296 million hours in the air. More than 25% of the world’s commercial air fleet is covered by this aircraft.
3. McDonnell Douglas MD (MD) Ata Airlines
McDonnell Douglas MD-80 McDonnell Douglas MD-80 is a twin-engine airliner manufactured by McDonnell Douglas. An airplane in the category of cheap airplane for travel is considered economy. The first flight of this aircraft took place on October 18, 1979. The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 is a new generation of the company’s older aircraft, the McDonnell Douglas DC-9. These planes are very similar to the McDonnell Douglas MD-90 family. For this reason, they are also called DC-9 Super 80.
4. Embraer ERG of Ata Airlines
The Embraer ERJ family includes the ERJ 135/ERJ 140/ERJ 145 family of relatively small twin-engine passenger aircraft. The first flight of ERG 135/140/145 took place on August 11, 1995. Brazil is the manufacturer of these planes. Embraer ERG is produced by Embraer company of this country. ERG has two turbofan engines. Two engines are located at the end of the body and on both sides of the body. The length of this plane is about 30 meters and its height is about 7 meters. The maximum speed of ERG Embraer of Ata Airlines is 833 km/h. Due to its characteristics, this air is suitable for short trips with low capacity.
